WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

There is reason our products are created. There are many problems that our products can solve for you. Electrical cars, new environmental regulation and lightweight car design are upcoming challenges. Part of these challenges is the brake system. Our advanced brake systems, mainly the brake discs, address several problems of conventional brake systems.

Here are the problems and how we solve them.

  • Particle emission

Particle emission from brakes are a significant problem. In a typical car, the particle emission are 50% from the combustion engine, 40% from the brakes and 10% from the tires. Because of the fact, that an electrical car has no engine emission, the amount of particle emission coming 70% from brakes and 30% from tires. Note that electrical cars show higher emissions form tires. These emission from the brake disc and pads containing highly toxic particles. The hazardous factor has been recently discovered and new regulation are underway. The UK “clean air act” and upcoming EU regulation will address this. Under discussion is to even ban cars with high particle emission to enter inner cities.
The Aluminum-Composite brake discs developed by Clean Brake Systems reduce particle emission more than 99.2%. Our brake discs are life cycle parts that do not need to be replaced. This will save itself thousand of tons of toxic brake dust per year. Our brake disc come with a competitive price. They even come with less total cost of ownership. Problem solved!

  • Corrosion

Conventional brake discs made show a significant amount of corrosion. Usually they need to be replaced after three years especially in corrosive environments like Winter regions with heavy salt use on the road. Because of the fact, that they are wearing of it is often not a big issue especially if they are used frequently like in normal cars.
Electro cars on the other hand show a much different picture. Because of the regenerative braking during slowing down, braking by the driver is much less required. Some drivers especial in inner city use the normal brakes because of the regenerative braking very little for days. If the electrical car has conventional cast iron brake discs, they show significant corrosion on the surface. This leads to a dangerous brake behavior in an emergency. The Aluminum-Composite type brake discs from Clean Brake Systems show virtually no corrosion. Problem solved!

  • Lightweight design

Our Aluminum-Composite brake discs are about 50% lighter compared to cast iron. Lightweight parts are always welcomed by car designers as modern cars fight heavily with weight because of safety and comfort features. Electric cars can use the weight for regeneration, but it does not outweigh the larger amount of material used and tire wear. A lighter car is always better!
